Watford announced arguably one of the under-rated signings of the summer so far late yesterday evening, with the Evening Standard confirming that Nathaniel Chalobah is set to arrive from Chelsea.
The 22-year-old midfielder will return to Vicarage Road for the first time since spending a year on-loan in the 2012-13 season, impressing on his way to making 42 appearances and scoring five goals.
Chalobah has endured a frustrating time at Stamford Bridge over the past few seasons, struggling to get regular first-team action up against the likes of Nemanja Matic, N’Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas.
And, despite reports in the Mirror claiming, on Thursday, that Antonio Conte was preparing a new five-year contract worth £65,000-per-week, the Hornets have swooped in for a believed fee of £5 million.
