How Twitter reacted as Birmingham swooped for Arsenal’s Carl Jenkinson and Cohen Bramall
It was a busy Monday morning as far as Birmingham City boss Harry Redknapp was concerned as Arsenal’s defensive duo of Cohen Bramall and Carl Jenkinson have both joined on season-long loans.
Speaking after his side’s defeat at Burton Albion on Friday evening the former Tottenham manager expressed his desire to add to his squad, claiming that without new arrivals it would be a tough year.
And it seems that someone high up at St Andrew’s firmly got the message, with a statement on Birmingham’s official website announcing the arrivals of 25-year-old Jenkinson and 21-year-old Bramall.
Jenkinson has been at the Emirates since arriving from Charlton back in 2011 but has struggled for regular first-team opportunities in the past few years, spending time on-loan at West Ham, whilst it seems that Arsene Wenger has sent youngster Bramall out on-loan to gain vital first-team exposure.
Both players are expected to be signed on and register in time to feature for the Blues during this week’s Carabao Cup second round clash, when they face tough opposition in Premier League side Bournemouth.
It was Birmingham’s Twitter account that sparked the social media action…

With some already predicting big things for Birmingham in the Championship…
Solid acquisitions for Birmingham for the season. Definitely a chance for them to gain promotion to #EPL next season with Bramall & Jenks…

Flint, Acquah, Gallagher, Jenkinson and Bramall before our next league game 🙌🏻💦 #BCFC

This is more like it, British players, who know the league, will play in the winter weather & be tough. Instead of foreign players. #bcfc

Some fans were particularly excited by the prospect of young Bramall…

Whilst Arsenal fans were also impressed at Wenger’s decision…
Good move for Bramall… hopefully game time to develop.
I think Jenkinson should of been sold and not loaned… https://t.co/PYTNewOx8X

Big test this for Cohen Bramall at Birmingham considering his contract expires next year, wish him well.

For all his love for the club Jenko never developed as expected. This is it for him. The loan deal will show if bramall is cut out for top. https://t.co/lUkn7gDlf6

This is Bramall's big chance; impress during his loan spell and he'll have opened doors for himself for the future.

Others were slightly more dubious…
Jenkison and Bramall both join Birmingham city on loan. Bramall was bumped up to the first team only to be loaned out….
— Always Arsenal (@Gunner_Sami) August 21, 2017
Could have used #Bramall in the Europa.

But the focus soon returned back to more potential movement at Arsenal…
Jenkinson, Bramall, Gabriel all gone out this week. Perez edging closer. Debuchy and Gibbs next. Should see some transfer movement soon.
— Charlie (@DeadlyOzil) August 21, 2017
Paulista, bramall and Jenkinson all gone with debuchy and Gibbs going, surely Wenger is thinking of bringing in defenders…
