When Chelsea opted to drop two key players in Eden Hazard and Diego Costa, Tottenham were confident of reaching their first FA Cup final since 1991. Instead, it became seven semi-final defeats in a row.
Willian opened the scoring for Chelsea with a fine free-kick before Harry Kane drew the scores back level with a glancing header finding the back of the net at the far post.
Then, Victor Moses was felled with seemingly no contact to allow Willian to add a second. Dele Alli equalised from a fine Christian Eriksen pass after half-time but it was not enough, with the introduction of Hazard proving pivotal.
