How Tottenham rated during their comfortable victory 1-0 over Middlesbrough

Tottenham pulled three points clear of third place after they laboured to a 1-0 victory over relegation-threatened Middlesbrough on Saturday evening at White Hart Lane.

After seeing rivals Arsenal and Liverpool lose earlier in the day Mauricio Pochettino’s side went into the match knowing a win would put daylight between their rivals, but it took until the hour mark for them to break the deadlock through Harry Kane’s thumping penalty.

A combination of an inspired Victor Valdes and last-ditch defending from Middlesbrough meant that Spurs didn’t win by a more handsome score, but it was job well done for the hosts.
