How Tottenham’s players rated in their narrow defeat to Manchester United

Kyle Walker – He has been one of the most improved Tottenham players over the last 12 months and he delivered another decent display on Sunday. Defensively he is much more aware of what is going on around him and he offers a good outlet on the right hand side. 5

Toby Alderweireld – It was a huge boost to have the Belgian back for this game and he gave a typically good performance. Tottenham look a lot better with him in their back line. 6

Jan Vertonghen – Like Alderweireld, he was solid and it is easy to see why Tottenham have such a good defence. It was an excellent attacking play from Manchester United that led to the first goal, which couldn’t have been prevented. 5

Danny Rose – He struggled with the attacking flair of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and couldn’t get into the game as much in the attacking half. It wasn’t one of his better performances as United got a lot of joy down his side. 3
