Cedric Soares – 7

Full of energy and defended well, refusing to allow Tottenham in behind him and blocking a number of balls into the box. Got forward with power and pace when possible too.

Jose Fonte – 6

The defensive unit was disappointing, but Fonte did not do a lot wrong individually. He made two outstanding blocks but as the captain and leader he could have been expected to marshal his backline more successfully late on as concentration went.

Virgil Van Dijk – 6

Took his headed goal superbly but was then beaten by Dele Alli to equalise, he will be disappointed in the team’s poor defensive display as much as his own performance.

Ryan Bertrand – 6

Tried to get forward when possible but often found himself struggling up against the pace of Kyle Walker which forced him to track back and work hard defensively.
