How Southampton's players rated in their heavy defeat to Tottenham

Weeks after humiliating Ronald Koeman on his return to St. Mary’s., Saints fans would have been hoping to inflict another defeat on a former manager as Mauricio Pochettino and co. rolled into town on the south coast.

It took only 69 seconds for Virgil Van Dijk to open the scoring with a superb header, much like Charlie Austin took less than a minute to take the lead against Everton only a month ago.

After that though, things went from bad to worse, with Dele Alli equalising after beating Van Dijk in the air to head home an equaliser just before the 20th minute mark.

Harry Kane then completed the turnaround with a second goal to give his side the lead, although he did soften the blow as he blasted a penalty way over the crossbar after Mike Dean made the questionable decision to give a penalty and send off Nathan Redmond after he brought down Dele Alli on the edge of the box.
