Simon Francis has told Premier League Productions – as per the Chronicle – that Newcastle’s squad have bought into Eddie Howe’s training sessions.
Howe, 43, has been hard at work over the last few days – after his announcement came just over a week ago. He has a contract until 2024.
Many have spoken about how intense Howe is on the training ground, how tactically aware the ex-Cherries boss is – and how hard he works his stars.
Indeed, Francis says he has spoken to two of his ex-Bournemouth teammates. The 36-year-old free agent has shared what they have told him.
Francis says that both players will have warned the Toon squad about Howe’s intensity. He also says the Toon squad have bought into Howe.

“I speak to Matt Ritchie and Callum quite a lot,” Francis said. “They’ve been telling the lads, ‘Look, if Eddie does get this job, be ready to work hard.
“I think the last few days have been that. The new players have bought into it. They’ve been excited by it. They’ve enjoyed training more than anything.”
Francis on Newcastle: Howe intensity seems like it is working
With Steve Bruce’s seemingly hands-off approach when it comes to training, or tactics, some players might have found the going tough under Howe.
But judging by what Wilson and Ritchie have told Francis, it seems the Newcastle players have wanted what Howe is bringing to the table.
For Newcastle fans, it is exciting to see their manager put Newcastle’s players under a bit of pressure – to work for their place in the side.
Things are gaining momentum and seem incredibly exciting ahead of Saturday’s clash against Brentford on Tyneside. A win is needed.
