Mo Diame – It was a mixed performance from the attacking midfielder as he was frustrating for large periods, but he managed to get the equaliser, albeit in a fortunate fashion. He completed four tackles and did his bit defensively. However, he needs to improve in the final third over the coming matches. 6

Yoan Gouffran – He was picked to start as the lone forward, which hasn’t happened very often this season. The Frenchman ran tirelessly and did his share of pressing from the front, but he should have scored at least one goal, as he wasted a great chance in the second half after he was gifted the ball by David Stockdale. 6

Daryl Murphy – The Irishman had a big impact on the game as he provided a physical presence up front. He came close to scoring from a header and put himself about after coming on. 7

Ayoze Perez – It was a brave call from Benitez to bring Perez on after the equaliser and the Spaniard repaid his manager’s faith. He was very good in possession and managed to score the winning goal. 7
