Christian Atsu – The Ghanaian international was a constant threat with his pace and trickery. He managed to get into good positions on several occasions and contributed the assist for the winning goal. For all of the excitement that he provided, he didn’t impress in front of goal and needs to work on his finishing over the coming weeks. 7

Jonjo Shelvey –  It wasn’t his best performance this season, but that was mainly down to the close attention that he was paid by the Brighton midfielders. After the change was made to bring on Daryl Murphy, the centre midfielder was moved further forward and he did have a greater impact. 6

Jack Colback – The midfielder hasn’t had the best season, despite dropping a division and he disappointed once again. He finished with an 89% pass accuracy, but he often plays safe passes and slows down the Newcastle attack. Although he worked hard, it wasn’t a great display from the 27-year-old. 5

Matt Ritchie – He was one of the best players for the Magpies and it was his incredible pass that led to the winning goal. It was an excellent piece of skill and he continues to impact matches in a positive way. The winger worked hard and was a constant threat. 9
