DeAndre Yedlin – The US international worked hard down the right hand side, but he lacked his usual creativity. However, he played a crucial part defensively, finishing the match with five successful tackles. 7

Jamaal Lascelles – He was solid at the Amex Stadium and did everything that was required, including having to deal with the aerial threat of Glenn Murray. The captain had to step up to show leadership when his side fell behind and he did that. 7

Ciaran Clark – It was a disappointing evening for the centre back as he conceded the penalty that led to Brighton’s goal. However, he recovered well and delivered an assured display. 6

Paul Dummett – The left back was superb on Tuesday evening and he coped well with the threat of Anthony Knockaert. He dominated in the air, winning all five of his aerial duels. Dummett has improved a lot under Rafa Benitez and this performance was one of his best. 8
