Manchester United and Tottenham are both enduring nightmarish campaigns domestically.
The Red Devils sit 13th in the Premier League while Spurs trail just behind in 15th place – even Crystal Palace, who failed to win until matchday nine, are above them.

However, Manchester United and Tottenham have found some joy in the UEFA Europa League – where both are on track to qualify for the Round of 16 automatically.
Ruben Amorim already has his side sitting seventh – the top eight qualify automatically without the need for a playoff – while Ange Postecoglou sits ninth, albeit level on points with Rangers one place above.
There is still a long way to go in this season’s UEFA Europa League – but how much have Manchester United and Tottenham already earned in prize money? Let’s take a look.
Manchester United have banked slightly more than Tottenham
As UEFA revealed in an official document back in March, there are differing amounts of prize money for a win and a draw in the league phase.
- League phase wins: €450,000 (£379,201)
- League phase draws: €150,000 (£126,400)
As you can see, those in the UEFA Europa League this season receive £126,400 for a draw and £379,201 for each win.
Ahead of Thursday’s action, Manchester United currently have three wins and three draws from six European outings so far this season, earning the Red Devils a total of £1.5m so far.

Tottenham, who want Angel Gomes, boast a similar record with three wins – but two draws – meaning Spurs have banked £1.1m so far this season.
UEFA Champions League sides make £1.8m per win – to compare the two competitions.
Ruben Amorim or Ange Postecoglou could net almost £11m by winning the UEFA Europa League
Unsurprisingly, the amount of prize money increases depending on the magnitude of the achievement.
- Winner: €13m (£10.95m)
- Runner-up: €7m (£5.90m)
- Semi-finalists: €4.2m (£3.54m)
- Quarter-finalists: €2.5m (£2.11m)
- Round of 16: €1.75m (£1.47m)
- Reaching knockout round play-off: €300,000 (£252,800)

Manchester United or Tottenham could make almost £11m if they win the UEFA Europa League – although each knockout round is worth over a million to each side regardless, so they should be highly motivated to progress.
