How much Liverpool are actually paying for Milos Kerkez as Reds book medical for Bournemouth star

Liverpool are set to imminently conclude the signing of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, TBR Football can reveal.

Milos Kerkez enjoyed an outstanding campaign for Bournemouth, a left-back who excelled under Andoni Iraola’s guidance.

Kerkez proved his position as one of the best attacking full-backs in the Premier League, and it’s not a surprise that Liverpool have been chasing his services.

Andrew Robertson delivered a solid campaign for Arne Slot, but there are clear signs that Liverpool would benefit from more competition for the 31-year-old.

And whilst Kostas Tsimikas has been available for Slot as well, the Greek international hasn’t elevated things when he has been introduced.

Liverpool agree fee to sign Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth this week

That being said, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Liverpool have now agreed a £40m deal to sign Kerkez.

Richard Hughes’ side initially came in at £35m for Kerkez, who was signed from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in 2023.

Instead, Bournemouth wanted closer to £50m for the Hungary international, who has provided six assists and scored twice in 38 Premier League appearances this season.

However, the two clubs have now settled on a fee and a deal for the Hungarian is set to be completed by the weekend.

Sharing his insight, Bailey said: “I’m told that Liverpool have agreed all aspects of a deal for Kerkez – his medical is booked in and they hope the deal will be concluded by this weekend.

“I understand Kerkez is very happy to get the deal done – he was contacted by a handful of rival clubs in the last month, but made it clear he only wanted to join Liverpool.”

What has Arne Slot said about Milos Kerkez?

Back in February Slot was asked about Liverpool potentially signing Kerkez from Bournemouth this summer.

Liverpool had just earned three hard-fought points against Iraola’s side on the south coast, and whilst Slot admitted that Kerkez was having a ‘great season’ he refused to get involved with any transfer talk.

Asked if Kerkez was a player Liverpool would be ‘looking at in the summer’, Slot replied: “I don’t think I have to talk about players that we are interested in let alone a player who’s playing here and having a great season, like many others here.”

Of course, Liverpool have already signed Jeremie Frimpong to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold on the other side of their defence.

And Kerkez should really complement Slot’s back line, even if Liverpool have concerns over Ibrahima Konate’s future.
