TBR Football can reveal that Bafode Diakite is set to become Bournemouth’s second-most expensive signing of all time.

The Cherries have had some big departures in this window.

Dean Huijsen left Andoni Iraola’s side for Real Madrid, while Milos Kerkez swapped the Vitality Stadium for Anfield after Liverpool made him their top left-back target.

Ilya Zabarnyi is on his way to PSG too, and Bournemouth are about to use the money they will be receiving for him on Diakite.

Bafode Diakite set to become Bournemouth’s second-most expensive signing

TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, understands that Bournemouth are close to a deal for French defender Bafode Diakite.

The highly-rated Lille star has been on Bournemouth’s radar for over 12 months, and now they have made their move.

The Cherries are in need of defensive reinforcements. Having already lost Huijsen, they are set to sanction the sale of Ilia Zabarnyi to Paris Saint-Germain.

We can confirm that 24-year-old Diakite is already in advanced talks over personal terms, and he will become the club’s second-most expensive signing in a deal worth over €30 million (£26m).

Bournemouth are using some of the money they are making from Zabarnyi.

As TBR revealed last month, Zabarnyi has made it clear he wants to join PSG and snubbed interest from the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and Newcastle.

PSG are set to pay close to €65 million (£56.3m) for the Bournemouth defender, with talks between the two clubs close to being concluded.

Bournemouth are also in talks to sign a Bundesliga champion

Bournemouth have a lot of money to spend thanks to their sales.

Djordje Petrovic and Adrien Truffert have already been signed by Iraola, and Diakite is expected to be the next one to come in.

TBR can also confirm that Bournemouth have held talks over Bayer Leverkusen winger Amine Adli.

The 25-year-old, who won the Bundesliga under Xabi Alonso in 2023, could be on the move, and the Cherries view him as an option while they consider whether they could allow Dango Ouattara to leave.

The Burkina Faso international has attracted interest from Brentford, who are looking to replace Bryan Mbeumo and potentially also Yoane Wissa in this window.
