Antonio Valencia – His improvement as a full back this season has been impressive and he provided another complete display at West Brom. He completed four ball retrievals and got forward to support attacks down the right. His distribution throughout the match was decent. 7

Phil Jones – The Englishman competed well in the air and didn’t get unsettled by West Brom’s aerial approach. He has the role of organising the Manchester United back four and he is improving on a game-by-game basis. United kept a clean sheet this evening and Jones will be pleased with his contribution to that. 6

Marcos Rojo – He is a decisive character and can get involved in controversy on the pitch, as he did with Salomon Rondon this evening. However, he has become an excellent defender, playing a key role in Manchester United’s recent form. He was impressive again at the Hawthornes with his aggressive style of defending and could be a regular starter for some time to come. 7

Matteo Darmian – The Italian may not be a natural left sided player, but he excelled on Saturday. He competed very well in the air and completed several ball retrievals. Darmian is becoming one of Mourinho’s most trusted and this performance will only consolidate his position in the first team. 7
