How Manchester United rated as they eased to victory over Middlesbrough

Add as preferred source on Google

Juan Mata – 6

Was fortunate enough to be afforded plenty of time on the ball early on but faded as the game went on with the Spaniard being forced to drop back more and more as Middlesbrough bombarded the Red Devils with long balls.

Marcus Rashford – 7

Kept Middlesbrough’s back four on their toes with his energy, pressing and running, with Bernardo looking particularly uncomfortable under pressure. That said, he still leaves something to be desired in his finishing.

Jesse Lingard – 8

Produced a very intelligent display to find spaces in Middlesbrough’s defence as they lined up with three at the back. His sensational goal will see him earn all the plaudits and rightly so, but his display could be marred by a late injury forcing him off.

Subs

Marcos Rojo (for Mata, 69) – 7

Defended well and added a bit more defensive steel.

Anthony Martial (for Lingard, 80) – 7

Looked to get forward with pace and was a threat.

Matteo Darmian (for Rashford, 90+4) – N/A
