Antonio Valencia – 8

Powerful and a threat going down the wing from start to finish. Wasn’t afraid to track back when Fabio looked to overlap, but still found plenty of time and space to get down the flank and deliver some dangerous balls into the box. Rewarded with a goal late on when putting pressure on Victor Valdes.

Marouane Fellaini – 7

Did superbly to head home the opening strike with a great run to get on the end of Ashley Young’s cross, but he could have been more effective in the midfield battle as he was too often sloppy in possession.

Michael Carrick – 7

Bossed the midfield with his control and leadership, looking to get on the ball and dominate the flow of the game right from the very first whistle. He did so well and impressed on his return to action, covering for the midfield when needed.

Ashley Young – 7

Worked hard throughout and produced a wonderful cross to set up Marouane Fellaini’s first half goal. Strong defensively and a threat when on the ball moving forwards, he can be happy with his display.
