How Manchester City’s players rated in their embarrassing defeat to Everton

Bacary Sagna – Like Clichy on the opposite flank, his best days are behind him and Manchester City need to bring in better full backs if they are to become one of the dominant European sides. He struggled with Everton this afternoon and was wasteful in attack when he did have chances to cross. 4

Nicolas Otamendi – He was probably the best City defender today, but that isn’t saying a great deal. The centre back made some key tackles and his distribution was good, but he couldn’t do anything to help his side avoid a poor defeat. 6

John Stones – There were a few nervous moments for the former Everton defender on his return to Goodison Park. Manchester City conceded chances too easily and Stones had a role in that. He made an error for the final goal and gave Ademola Lookman an easy task of slotting home. 4

Gael Clichy – He was one of the worst players on the pitch this afternoon. His best days are behind him and the full back positions are a major concern for City. The Frenchman was at fault for the first goal and struggled defensively for the entire match. 3
