How Manchester City’s players rated in Pep Guardiola’s underwhelming debut season at the Etihad Stadium

Raheem Sterling – The England international has had a really promising year, looking deadly out on the wings and has managed to channel his pace well. Still seems to lack the final pass or the final finishing touch inside the area though but, with Guardiola in charge, this will come in good time. 7.

Leroy Sane – Since January the young German has really stamped his mark on this Manchester City side, making the left-wing role his own and terrorising defenders. The youngster has been a revelation and five goals and three assists shows he has the end product to match his guile. 8.

Gabriel Jesus – Arriving in January, the 19-year-old has had an outstanding start to life at the club – despite injuring his metatarsal in February – scoring seven times in eight starts and giving the whole side a boost with his energy and desire. Will be a huge part at the Etihad for many, many years. 8.

Nolito – Despite starting six of City’s first eight games this season – finding the back of the net three times – he was phased out as soon as Jesus arrived in January and has struggled to get any time on the pitch. With talks of a return to Spain imminent, it looks like his short time in England will end. 5.

Sergio Aguero – 20 Premier League goals in 31 appearances isn’t bad for somebody reportedly having one of his ‘worst’ seasons, and it’s his run of late season form that fired City into the top four. With speculation over his future growing, Guardiola surely can’t let the star Argentine leave. 8.

Kelechi Iheanacho – After bursting on to the scene last season under Pellegrini the young forward would have expected more first-team action this year, but instead the 20-year-old was only afforded five starts all season. Will be hoping to push his way into the starting eleven more next campaign. 6.
