TBR Football understands that Manchester United are now preparing to make their own offer for Benjamin Sesko following Newcastle’s rejected bid.

The Red Devils have held talks with RB Leipzig ahead of submitting their opening bid for the 22-year-old striker.

TBR Football can reveal that Newcastle United’s initial £70m bid was rejected, with Leipzig wanting at least another £4m.

The Bundesliga club want an overall package of around £74m, but are insisting that the structure of the deal and add-ons will be crucial.

Man United confident about Benjamin Sesko bid

Manchester United’s confidence in signing Benjamin Sesko is starting to grow, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has been told.

Newcastle were optimistic about their Sesko bid; however, their first offer of around £70m has now been rejected by Leipzig.

Now, following talks with the German club, United are readying their rival offer for the Slovenian international and are confident following talks with the player.

Newcastle are wary of United’s move for the striker, but TBR Football understands that Sesko’s camp insists no decision has been made.

Bailey told TBR Football: “Newcastle are wary of Manchester United, but I am told that Sesko’s camp has, to this point, made it clear that he has not made his decision on which club would be his preference.

“United have held talks with Leipzig and they are ready to make their own offer.

“United have been confident all week since opening talks with Sesko’s camp, but they were always aware of Newcastle’s interest, and they respect that they are putting together a strong case.

“Likewise, I am told Newcastle realise that the lure of Manchester United is a major hurdle for them to overcome, but neither side are backing down.”

Newcastle continue talks after rejected Benjamin Sesko bid

Newcastle are continuing talks over a deal for the striker following their initial bid being rejected, with the structure of the deal being a crucial talking point.

Eddie Howe has made Sesko his top target, and the Magpies are determined to sign the striker in case Alexander Isak is sold.

The Toon are not far from reaching an agreement with Leipzig, but ultimately, it will come down to which club the player prefers.

Newcastle can offer the player Champions League football, meanwhile, the lure of playing for United and at Old Trafford remains strong.

Ruben Amorim’s team is starting to look strong following the additions of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, so adding Sesko to the mix is a tantalising prospect.
