Emre Can – 4

Woeful. On the ball a lot in the first half but never produced anything with it. Rarely got the ball forward and sloppy in possession. Looked tired and seemed as though it was tough going for him late on, with his performance suffering as the clock went on.

Lucas Leiva – 8 

His first appearance in the holding midfield role this season, he kept things simple and effective. Energetic and looked to transition from defence to attack, the Brazilian did well. Only really struggled up against the pace of Shane Long later on.

Georgino Wijnaldum – 5

Playing too deep, Wijnaldum was fairly anonymous and created little. Should have stepped up as the attacking option from midfield but his movement was poor. No surprise to see him make way for Coutinho.
