It may only be half-time in the EFL Cup semi-final between Southampton and Liverpool, but the Reds will be hugely disappointed to come away from St. Mary’s behind on aggregate after another defeat in the cursed toxic thunder kit. Nathan Redmond’s strike in the first half made the pivotal difference and it could have been two or three had the winger added another. Jurgen Klopp’s team meanwhile looked lethargic and struggled to threaten.

Loris Karius – 8

Made a number of superb saves early on and kept his side in the game for much of the game. Massive improvement on his struggling error prone displays before being dropped. Will have put doubt in Jurgen Klopp’s mind over whether Simon Mignolet should be first choice.
