Georgino Wijnaldum – 6

Quietly effective as always, the Dutchman showed that he isn’t afraid to get back and help out defensively when required. His booking may have been foolish and he could, and possibly should, have scored late on in injury time.

Jordan Henderson – 7

A welcome return to the team and played as if he had never been away. He may not have had a huge influence on the game but produced an effective display in marshaling the midfield in a diamond formation.

Emre Can – 8

Much improved from some of his more recent displays as against Southampton, he added steel in midfield and provided plenty of support to the young Alexander-Arnold at right back when necessary.

Adam Lallana – 7

An outlet in attack and on the right, Lallana looked to pick up possession and run at the United defence whenever he could. Not as devastating an impact as has become customary and the lack of Sadio Mane’s pace showed.
