Christian Fuchs – Lost sight of Sevilla’s runs in behind at times, often guilty of being caught on the turn by the pace that the likes of Nasri and Vitolo carry. Recovered magnificently well, however, making eleven headed clearances as he proved critical to keeping the visitors out during a testing second-half. 7.
Wes Morgan – After coming into a lot of criticism for his performance in the defeat in Seville, he popped up when it counted to stab his side in front on the night – even if he didn’t know too much about it. Led his side by example all evening and will deserve all the plaudits he gets. 8.
Robert Huth – Perhaps fortunate to get away with a loose swinging arm inside the opening five minutes but he put in a superb rearguard display. Him, alongside Morgan, put in the type of performance that we saw last season and controlled the back-four excellently. Kept narrow. 8.
Danny Simpson – Was on the front foot all evening and turned defence into attack quickly on the right-hand side of the pitch. Far more disciplined in his right-back position too in comparison to the reverse fixture a few weeks ago, and ensured that Nasri had no joy on his return to England. 7.
