'What a team': How Jamie Carragher reacted at Liverpool when news of Manchester City's third goal went in
It was another dramatic final day of Premier League action as Manchester City produced a stunning comeback against Aston Villa to snatch the title.
Liverpool had looked like being on course to do the unthinkable when Villa raced into a two goal lead at The Etihad in the second 45. However, goals from Ilkay Gundogan (2) and Rodrigo ensured City produced yet another memorable final day at home to win the title.
For Liverpool, it was a gut-wrenching finish to another remarkable season and they came within a whisker once again of winning the title. And for the onlooking Jamie Carragher, he was left with nothing to do but praise City when news of the third goal filtered through.
“I mean, what a team they are. That’s why they’re champions, to come from behind like that. What a team,” Carragher uttered in response on Sky to Martin Tyler’s declaration of the goal.
Liverpool will now focus on the Champions League final and hope to make it three trophies for the season in what has been another exceptional season for the Reds.
TBR’s View: Liverpool Have To Admire Manchester City
Carragher’s response was short and sweet but he is right, you have to just admire Manchester City. To come back as they did against Villa today was the mark of a top side and champions.
Liverpool will come again. They’ve been outstanding all season long and there has to be real belief they can add another PL title in the coming seasons.
