Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate was in international action on Thursday night.

The Reds ace played the full 90 minutes for France as they ran out 4-1 winners over Israel in the Nations League.

France opened the scoring in the seventh minute through Eduardo Camavinga, but Omri Gandelman equalised for Israel on 24 minutes.

Les Bleus quickly retook the lead four minutes later through Christopher Nkunku, but they only made sure of victory in the latter stages of the game.

Matteo Guendouzi put France out of reach in the 87th minute before Bradley Barcola rounded off the scoring two minutes later.

All in all, a solid display from the 2018 World Cup champions, and Konate gave a good account of himself.

Ibrahima Konate delivers ‘strong’ display but questions asked of his role in Israel’s goal

Footmercato gave the Liverpool ace – who also took the captain’s armband late on – a 6.5 out of 10 for his efforts on the night.

“Alongside Saliba, he perfectly managed Thai Baribo’s movements and was never caught,” they wrote.

“Authoritarian in his rare interventions, he was content to take care of his restarts. A diligent match for the man who took over the captain’s armband when Tchouameni went off.”

Meanwhile, 90Min went with a 6 out of 10 rating, writing: “It was a pretty solid match from Ibrahima Konate .

“The defender of the Blues was not really put in difficulty in this encounter. A reassuring performance, while Dayot Upamecano is out during this international break.”

Sofoot also went with a 6 for the Liverpool ace and wrote: “He took advantage of the opponent’s weakness to go for a ride in Budapest.

“It’s just a shame that he left his friend William (Saliba) alone in trouble in the 24th minute.”

Finally, But! Football Club went with a 5 and wrote: “Bad positioning on Gandelman’s goal. But the rest of the time the opposing attackers didn’t cause him any problems.

“Strong, he ended up with the armband, after Tchouameni came off.”
