Leighton Baines – His attacking instincts seem to be thriving in his new position further up the field, but was generally subdued throughout as a result of City’s dominance of possession. Worked tirelessly in defence to keep tabs on Silva. Will have more fruitful days for Everton. 6.
Seamus Coleman – Much like Baines, City’s sustained attacks meant that he didn’t have too much of an impact up the other end of the field, but he was solid in defence as usual. In the right place at the right time to deflect the ball into Lookman’s path in injury time. 6.
Gareth Barry – It was experience mixed with youth in the Everton central midfield and Barry showed his composure for during his time on the pitch against a strong City side. Dictated play and stopped the usually marauding Yaya Toure from having an impact – class is permanent. 8.
Tom Davies – Could easily felt intimidated up against the presence of Yaya Toure, but the young Davies rose to the challenge. Had his best game in an Everton shirt, controlling the Toffees’ midfield and maintaining his discipline throughout, even clearing Sagna’s first-half header off the line. Got the goal his performance deserved late on, finishing off a move he started in his own half with a delightful dink over Bravo. 9.
