Ashley Williams – Led by example at the back for Everton, not giving City’s dangerous attacking outlets a clear sight of goal throughout, and he kept his back three in shape superbly. Seems to turn up against the big teams this season, and has been vital in Everton’s strong start so far. 8.
Mason Holgate – The 20-year-old looked calm and assured up against arguably the best forward in the Premier League in Sergio Aguero, and kept his third clean sheet in five appearances this season. Marshalled the threat of Sterling well too, keeping tight to his man throughout. 7.
Ramiro Funes Mori – Steady and reliable performance from Funes Mori on Sunday, working well alongside Williams to keep Everton’s back-line compact. Was fortunate that Aguero couldn’t quite reach a cross in the first-half after he’d let him go in the box, but recovered well from this. 7.
