Report: Two players only signed for Arsenal because of Edu as Brazilian's importance underlined
Arsenal are flying high atop the Premier League right now but it seems they have Technical Director, Edu, to thank for making it happen.
Of course, Mikel Arteta is the man in charge on the football pitch. The Spaniard has transformed how things are done at Arsenal and results are now showing the fruits of his labour.
However, Arteta would only be able to do so well with the right players. And in recent windows, The Gunners have backed Arteta to the tune of more than £250m. The likes of Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Thomas Partey, have all arrived, amongst others.
And according to The Telegraph, Arsenal have Edu to thank for the signings of Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Magalhaes in particular. A report today explains how Edu was absolutely key in Jesus opting for Arsenal over a number of Champions League clubs. Further, it’s confirmed how defender Gabriel has cited in previous comments how Edu was the main reason he joined.
It seems, then, that Arsenal have got it bang on having Edu. The Brazilian is referred to in the report as being a calm and approachable figure. He is said to meet with players and family members in person. From here, he then sells the vision of Arsenal.
TBR’s View: Edu is key for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta
You cannot deny how important it is to have the right man at the helm when it comes to contracts and transfers. Edu has shown how vital it can prove, and there’s so much to like about Arsenal right now.
The signings of Gabriel and Jesus have been so important in their own way as well. Certainly, Jesus seems to have taken Arsenal’s attacking play to a new level.
The key now for Edu and Arsenal is to keep on driving forward. January is round the corner, and it would be no surprise to see the club spend again. Edu, then, will be key once more.
