How Crystal Palace feel about Marc Guehi as Newcastle remain interested ahead of January transfer window

Crystal Palace were left relieved after the conclusion of the summer transfer window to still have Marc Guehi at the club.

It was a testing summer for Crystal Palace who sanctioned the sale of Michael Olise to Bayern Munich in their big exit of the window.

But there was interest in other players with Newcastle United keen on signing Guehi after making numerous bids for the centre-back.

The England international marked Newcastle‘s main priority in the summer window but Paul Mitchell was unable to secure his man.

Despite this, it seems as if interest has not gone away with Newcastle still holding an interest in signing the £70m Guehi over the coming months.

Crystal Palace have Marc Guehi contract concerns

Following the summer transfer window, Palace have attempted to tie Guehi down to a new deal at Selhurst Park.

However, this comes amid serious interest from a number of Premier League sides who could potentially offer Guehi European football.

According to the Daily Mail, there are some concerns at Crystal Palace surrounding the proposed new contract for Guehi.

It’s claimed there is a growing resignation that the Eagles are going to have be required to sell Guehi over the next two windows.

Guehi now has just under two years remaining on his deal with Palace which means the Eagles are going to have a difficult decision ahead of them potentially.

Palace chiefs have attempted to open up dialogue over a potential new deal for Guehi but they have not received any encouragement from his camp yet.

Marc Guehi has tasted higher level of football with England

Guehi established himself in Gareth Southgate’s England squad over the summer at the European Championships.

He has since returned to a Palace side who find themselves slumped in the bottom three following the opening seven games of the term.

Whilst the Eagles struggle, Guehi is at the centre of interest from some of the Premier League’s bigger sides.

An interesting few months await the 24-year-old with Palace seemingly losing optimism over him signing a new deal.
