Willian – 9
Claimed an assist as he knocked the ball back to N’Golo Kante and was a threat throughout with his movement and skill, going close with one effort curling just over the crossbar. The Brazilian produced the kind of display that saw him named the club’s player of the year last season.
Diego Costa – 7
The Spaniard was embroiled in a physical battle up-front and was unfortunate to beat David de Gea with a fine effort on the turn in the first half. Could have done better with a free header in the second period and cut a frustrated figure as the game went on and picked up a yellow as a result.
Eden Hazard – 9
Magical despite the bullying and physicality of Manchester United targeting the Belgian. Hazard was at the heart of almost everything that Chelsea produced on the attack, though United’s tactics of sitting deep did hinder his chances in the second half as he found himself coming up against a brick wall of defenders.
