Cesar Azpilicueta – 6

The only player to disappoint particularly, Azpilicueta struggled with the movement and harrying of Robert Snodgrass and rarely engaged in the aerial battle with Andy Carroll. A miss-kick when the ball fell his way on the edge of the box summed up a frustrating evening which was surely little more than an off day.

David Luiz – 8

Cool and calm throughout, this was typical of how far Luiz has come since his first spell at the club. He dealt well with the threat of Andy Carroll in the air and he looked to start moves from the back with his wide range of passing.

Gary Cahill – 7

Like Luiz, Cahill dealt with Andy Carroll fantastically and rarely looked particularly troubled by the West Ham number nine. A real physical battle for the captain, but he looked comfortable.
