How Arsenal’s XI could have looked if they kept all their best academy products including ‘world class’ winger

Arsenal’s academy is the envy of a lot of Premier League clubs.

After all, not every team is capable of producing a player like Bukayo Saka

Saka is a world-class player now, and he’s not the only gem to have come through Hale End in recent years.

Indeed, Arsenal’s academy has been brilliant at producing star after star, but, sadly, most of these players now ply their trade elsewhere.

Arsenal have one of the best teams in Europe right now, and while they’ve spent massive money on players like Declan Rice and Kai Havertz, they could easily have fielded a very talented squad made up only of players who have been on their books as an academy player.

Arsenal’s academy XI

If Arsenal had kept hold of all of their academy products over the years, their team would’ve looked something like this.

This is a very unbalanced team, but there are some superstar names in there.

The defence is suspect to say the least, with Kyle Bartley and Ignasi Miquel making up a centre-back pairing that doesn’t come close to rivalling William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.

Meanwhile, current Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly starts at left-back. Lewis-Skelly earned praise from Mikel Arteta after his performance against Monaco this week and he looks like a future star.

The midfield is very attack-minded, but it’s packed full of talent.

Eberechi Eze says he was gutted when he left Arsenal, but he’s back in the famous red shirt in this team.

Meanwhile, Alex Iwobi had no regrets about leaving Arsenal, but he factors in this side after a great start to the season at Fulham.

Speaking of Fulham, Emile Smith Rowe makes up the midfield as another attack-minded option.

Bukayo Saka starts down the right, and while Harry Kane left Arsenal at a very young age, he’s leading the line here.

Serge Gnabry is a ‘world-class’ winger these days, via The Standard, and he plays down the left.

Will Arsenal re-sign any of their academy stars?

This is a team packed full of talent, and, interestingly, we could one day see a few of these players back in an Arsenal shirt.

Wojciech Szczesny was linked with Arsenal this summer before retiring and unretiring to join Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have been keen on Serge Gnabry in recent months as they look to bolster their wide options.

On top of that, Eberechi Eze was an Arsenal target in the summer too, and he’s likely to be on the market in an upcoming transfer window.

They say in football you should never go back, but some of these players are being looked at for potential returns to Arsenal after spending their youth playing for the Gunners.
