How Arsenal’s players rated in their late defeat to Everton

Francis Coquelin – The Frenchman has established himself as a regular in centre midfield alongside Granit Xhaka and he was good this evening. He broke up play well and was decent in possession, offering a good option whenever Arsenal attacked. 6

Granit Xhaka – He is currently being given more license to show his passing ability in the absence of Santi Cazorla. There was one cross-field ball to Alexis Sanchez that was straight from the top draw. However, Arsenal struggled to dominate the game and Xhaka needs to assert himself more in matches like these. 5

Theo Walcott – This evening was one of disappointment for Theo Walcott as he struggled to get into the game. He was well marshalled by Leighton Baines and didn’t have many opportunities to show his quality in the final third. 4

Mesut Ozil – It was a bad evening for the German as he was loose in possession and couldn’t influence the match as he normally does. He had a great chance early in the second half, but blasted over. You would normally back him to hit the target from there. 3
