Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 8
One of his best displays of the season, he dominated the midfield on the right hand side and wasn’t afraid to track back and help out when required as the pressure mounted in the second period.
Aaron Ramsey – 6
Had more freedom than he is usually given in midfield and it showed as he often seemed to be caught out of position either too far forward or too deep, but he did superbly to assist Mesut Ozil’s goal.
Granit Xhaka – 5
Struggled to string his passes together and couldn’t provide the steady midfield presence that was needed to keep the game ticking over. Far too careless in possession.
Nacho Monreal – 5
A poor display from the Spaniard, who was entirely at fault for allowing Stewart Downing all the time and space in the world to assist Alvaro Negredo. Caught too high on far too regular a basis.
