Gabriel Paulista – 6

A shaky start early on but the Brazilian never looked particularly comfortable as part of a back three and was too easily dragged out of position and caught out by the runs of Middlesbrough on the attack.

Laurent Koscielny – 6

At sixes and sevens when Alvaro Negredo’s run caught him out to level the scores in the second half, he struggled with the physicality of the Spaniard. Looked rusty.

Rob Holding – 8

Impressive, he was assured on the ball and prepared to battle physically off it. Certainly didn’t stand out as the most inexperienced of the back three.
