Alexis Sanchez – Perhaps as expected the Chilean had most of his joy at the Allianz Arena on the break, often dropping deep into midfield to try and influence the game. His penalty was poor but he redeemed himself with an exceptional follow-up finish to get an away goal. Gabriel – Wouldn’t have expected a whole half of football on Wednesday but he came on for the injured Koscielny and was torn apart by Bayern’s attackers. Lewandowski’s deft back-heel took him out of the game for Bayern’s third and he had the thankless task of damage limitation. 3.

Theo Walcott – Can’t remember a moment where he made a meaningful touch of the ball, such was the hosts’ dominance. Will be thinking what could have been if he had started, as his pace could have been used in Arsenal’s first-half counter-attacks. 4.

Olivier Giroud – His height made no difference to the game as he had no support in the final third. Just had to sit and watch the goals go in at the other end of the field. N/A.
