Arsenal have kept their slim hopes of finishing in the top four alive with a 2-0 win over Manchester United to end the visitors’ unbeaten run in the Premier League.

This hasn’t been a memorable season for the Gunners, but this provides a rare highlight as Arsene Wenger beat Jose Mourinho for the first time in a competitive fixture.

Although United played a weakened team, the home side played well and deserved all three points.

Here are how their players rated at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday…

Petr Cech – The goalkeeper was excellent on Sunday and made several key stops to prevent Manchester United from taking the lead, including one from point blank range from Wayne Rooney. His anticipation to snuff that particular chance out was impressive. 8

Rob Holding – The young Englishman delivered another promising performance, as he completed three tackles and ended the match with a pass success rate of 84%. He will be pleased with his contribution and recovered well after playing a poor pass across his box that almost led to a United goal. 7

Laurent Koscielny – He is crucial to the back three and helps out a lot in terms of organisation. Although he made a mistake to let Wayne Rooney have a free shot on goal, he played well for the majority of the match and helped his side to a crucial three points. 7

Nacho Monreal – The Spaniard has adjusted well to playing as a centre back and played his part on Sunday. His passing was his good as he completed 91% and was a reliable option in possession. 6

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – It has been a great season for the England international and he was arguably the man-of-the-match on Sunday. He got both of the assists and completed three tackles to show that he could contribute defensively. The 23-year-old is perfect for the wing back role. 9

Aaron Ramsey – This was one of his best performances of the season as he caused problems with his driving runs and came close to scoring in the match. He competed well off the ball as well with three completed tackles. 8

Granit Xhaka – Some of his passing on Sunday was excellent and he showed just how good he could be in possession with a 95% pass accuracy. He scored the opening goal with a deflected effort from range. It was arguably a poor decision to shoot, but his risk paid off. 7

Kieran Gibbs – The 27-year-old worked hard and completed three dribbles in attack. However, the quality of his final ball wasn’t quite there and he will be disappointed with his contribution in the final third. 6

Mesut Ozil – He completed two key passes in the match, which was the join-highest of any player on the pitch. There were some impressive moments and his set-piece delivery was good. The 28-year-old played his part in what was a vital win for the Gunners. 6

Alexis Sanchez – The Chilean didn’t have his best game, but his movement caused problems and opened up space for his team-mates to exploit. He showed flashes of his ability with two successful dribbles and one key pass, but it wasn’t a performance that will be remembered. 6

Danny Welbeck – It was great to see him get on the score-sheet against his old club as he has played well in recent weeks. The only thing that was lacking was end produce and he showed that on Sunday. His movement was good and he caused his former club problems throughout the match. 7
