Alexander Isak has been the player creating the most headlines in the summer transfer window so far.
Isak has been at the centre of more than one transfer storm in recent times. Arsenal have been keen on Isak for a long time, and now, Liverpool are said to want the Newcastle star.
Liverpool have been strongly linked with Isak lately, and there has been a lot of noise around a potential move.
Speaking on NUFC Matters, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Isak’s links to Liverpool, and he’s shared some insight into how the player feels about these rumours.

How Alexander Isak feels about Liverpool links
According to Jacobs, Isak is welcoming of these recent links to Liverpool.
The journalist says that Isak is happy to see his name in the headlines as he believes these links give him maximum leverage in his contract talks with Newcastle.
Newcastle want Isak to sign a new deal, but they will have to give him a serious wage hike.
“What’s Newcastle’s position? Is it a British transfer record? Is it as some sources imply, over £150m, or even £200m? There will come a point where every player has a number,” Jacobs said.
“Is Isak welcoming of the links? Of course, because it gives him maximum leverage to go back to Newcastle and give him a new deal. There’s a lot of noise because the interest is genuine.”
Alexander Isak wage compared to world’s top strikers
Alexander Isak is the best striker in the world according to some, but he doesn’t earn anywhere near as much as many of his peers.
Indeed, the Newcastle striker earns just £120,000-a-week, and while that is a lot of money for most people, that isn’t much for one of the best footballers on the planet.
Compare Isak’s salary to many of his contemporaries and you can see the problem here.
| World’s best strikers | Weekly wage |
| Erling Haaland | £500,000 |
| Kylian Mbappe | £500,000 |
| Robert Lewandowski | £542,000 |
| Harry Kane | £360,000 |
| Alexander Isak | £120,000 |
Isak deserves to have his wages at least doubled, if not tripled at Newcastle, and the incoming interest from Liverpool gives him an even stronger case to go and demand more money from his bosses at St James’ Park.
Don’t be shocked if Isak gets a huge payrise at Newcastle if he does indeed sign a new deal.
