With Fulham down 3-0 at halftime at Old Trafford on Saturday, Aboubakar Kamara entered the fray with a near-impossible task: get Fulham back in the match with goals.
The Whites had looked toothless in attack all afternoon, yet the introduction of Kamara and a shift to a 4-4-2 system revitalised the Fulham side.
Due to Kamara’s impressive goal and influential display, it appears Fulham don’t need to splash the cash on another striker in January and would be better suited investing in defence or central midfield.
The Frenchman is a mercurial talent and can conjure up amazing things on the pitch as well as producing moments of maddening inconsistency. Yet recently, Kamara has more often than not turned his energy into goals, bagging in his last two matches against Leicester and Manchester United.

Against the Red Devils, Kamara won a penalty with strong play that forced Ander Herrera into conceding a spot kick. And the attacker converted from twelve yards out with aplomb, coolly sending David de Gea the wrong way with an assured finish.
If not for Andre Frank Zambo-Anguissa’s questionable sending off, Fulham could have truly gotten themselves back in the match after it was pulled back to 3-1.
In all, Kamara’s goalscoring success has shown Claudio Ranieri has a more than capable understudy to Aleksandar Mitrovic in SW6.
And with only weeks to go until the transfer window opens, Fulham need not to worry about finding another striker, but should rather focus their attention on shoring up their defence and abysmal centre midfield.
