Jamie Sterry started at right-back in Newcastle United’s FA Cup clash with Blackburn Rovers yesterday.
But he failed to prevent the game going to a replay as the sides drew 1-1.
Blackburn Rovers took the lead when Bradley Dack headed in an inch-perfect cross.
But Matt Ritchie sent the game to a replay, scoring from the spot after Ayoze Perez was fouled in the box.
Sterry failed to impress when given a rare chance, putting his Newcastle future in even more doubt.
It was the 23-year-old’s second appearance of the season, after he featured in the EFL Cup loss against Nottingham Forest.

With the likes of DeAndre Yedlin and Javier Manquillo ahead of him, Sterry’s chances of first-team action are slim.
And with age no longer on his side, Sterry could well leave this month or in the summer.
The Newcastle academy graduate has previously spent time on loan with Coventry City and Crewe Alexandra.
And he might have to drop down the leagues again to kick-start his career.
Newcastle fans took to social media to have their say on the young right-back and here are some thoughts.https://twitter.com/rooney03/status/1081664036687749122
