Wolverhampton Wanderers visited the Emirates on Sunday afternoon, leaving north London with a point after a 1-1 draw.

The newly-promoted side were excellent all afternoon, propelled by the superb performance of centre-half Conor Coady. The 25-year-old defender effectively neutralised the Arsenal attack as Wolves maintained a clean sheet until just under five minutes from time.

In the end, Wolves were perhaps unlucky not to come away with the three points, thanks to their resolute defence and adventurous attack.

Come full time, the Wolves faithful were quick to applaud the English centre-half, with some calling for Coady to earn an international call-up.

In addition, Wolves supporters turned their attention to other English centre-halves that were being selected over Coady. Some fans insisted that the 25-year-old was far more deserving of a nod from Gareth Southgate than other options that the manager has selected.

Yet despite some supporters’ eagerness for Coady to be included in Southgate’s plans, other fans added a dose of realism to the debate. As England have shifted away from a back three formation, Wolves supporters acknowledged that it would be immensely difficult for their star man to adapt to a flat back four.
