‘Honestly’: TalkSPORT pundit says Arsenal have a player who is better than David Beckham already

TalkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor has put Arsenal’s Buyako Saka in his all-time England XI over Manchester United icon David Beckham.

Saka made his World Cup debut in England’s 6-2 win over Iran on Monday afternoon and scored two goals in that thumping win.

Ahead of England’s game with the United States tomorrow night (Friday), Agbonlahor was asked to name the best Three Lions players he has seen.

There were plenty of players from the so-called ‘Golden Generation’ included, but Beckham was left out in favour of Saka.

Agbonlahor puts Saka in ahead of Beckham

He said: “Beckham played very well for England but this lad Saka…

“Honestly, I rate him so highly. He’s one of the first names on the teamsheet.

“He’s outstanding, quick, can score, look at his composure on Monday. I’d have Saka on the right (of my all-time England XI).”

Obviously hypothetical teams like this are always open to debate and a matter of personal opinion. It was not clear whether Agbonlahor was just judging England performances or overall careers.

Beckham won the Champions League with Manchester United and Saka has not played in it, but the Arsenal man is playing in a more successful England team.

Gareth Southgate’s side have already done better than anything the England team of Beckham’s era achieved and now they are looking to go one better.
