‘Honestly beautiful’, ‘I’m gonna cry’: Some Liverpool fans react as club shares photos from Kirkby

A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to express their joy at seeing Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez undergoing rehabilitation together.

Both defenders have been out long-term, and their absence has been felt by the Reds contingent, the team looking more vulnerable at the back without the talented duo.

Van Dijk returned to Merseyside earlier this month after spending much of the last two months out in Dubai working on his rehab at the Nad al Sheba complex.

Gomez, meanwhile, has been using the facilities at Kirkby for the last few weeks as he continues to work towards a return to first-team training and eventually first-team action.

Both centre-backs were involved in the gym on Friday as Liverpool’s staff put them through their paces with weight sessions and strength and conditioning work.

Although no timescale has been put on either player’s return, they seem to be progressing well and look in very good spirits, which bodes well going forward.

Up next for Liverpool is the Merseyside derby, Jurgen Klopp’s charges hosting Everton at Anfield on Saturday evening.
