‘Honestly’: Antonio Conte says his Tottenham side did something really ‘stupid’ against West Ham

Antonio Conte has given his view on Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-1 draw with bitter rivals West Ham United last night.

Conte was critical of his side’s defending for Tomas Soucek’s equaliser in his post-match interview with the club’s official website.

Spurs remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season and sit third but will be disappointed not to win a derby clash.

A Thilo Kehrer own goal put them ahead but they had to settle for a point and Conte was not impressed with the goal they let in.

Conte speaks out after West Ham draw

He said: “We scored a goal and had the game in control and we concede a stupid goal. Honestly.

“My team were really good at defending set pieces, corners, throw-ins, because we worked a lot at this aspect because we know very well the capacity of West Ham to exploit this situation.

“But at our level the details move the final result.

“You can defend well for 95 minutes but 30 seconds, if you don’t pay attention or you are a bit superficial, the opponent punishes you and that happened today.”

Next up for Spurs is a clash with a Fulham side who have been impressive beyond all expectations since their promotion to the Premier League.

They gave Arsenal a real game in their last away outing and Spurs will have to defend better than they did last night to win that one.

Tottenham have been getting good results without perhaps setting the world alight, which potentially bodes well for when it all clicks.
