There has been plenty of speculation this week regarding the future of Everton manager Marco Silva. It comes after the team’s woeful display at Goodison Park, as Wolves came away with a 3-1 win.
TalkSPORT presenter Jim White has a good relationship with the Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri and revealed this morning (10:00) that he had spoken to him last night. White stated that Moshiri had told him:
“Marco Silva is a talented coach but he’s planning long-term. He will coach and develop those young players and every year those young players will become stronger.
“In this business you have to hold your nerve.”
Moshiri, who is in England to watch Everton take on Manchester City tomorrow evening, is clearly planning to keep Silva long-term.
Silva has presided over a poor period of form for Everton, including a FA Cup exit. However, with Silva and new director of football Marcel Brands arriving in the summer, there is clearly a long-term project in place at Goodison Park.
Pulling the trigger now would be a mistake. Everton have not performed well enough this term, especially in recent months.
However, prior to the Merseyside Derby loss many exclaiming their joy at the football being played under Silva.
Give him and Brands some time to make some more changes to the team and hopefully, Everton can continue to build something.
Keeping Silva still looks like the right call for now.
