'Hold on': TalkSPORT pundit left baffled when O'Hara says 'unbelievable' Spurs player has outshone Arsenal man

TalkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy was left baffled when Jamie O’Hara said Tottenham Hotspur man Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has outshone Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka

Both North London sides have got off to a brilliant start to the new season. The Gunners currently sit top of the Premier League with 18 points on the board.

While Spurs sit just a point behind in third place heading into the clash between the two sides next weekend.

Both Hojbjerg and Xhaka have been key to their side’s successful starts to the season. And this has led to Cundy and O’Hara disagreeing about the pair on TalkSPORT.

O’Hara says Hojbjerg has outshone Xhaka

The pundits were both picking an early Premier League team of the season live on TalkSPORT

And an Arsenal fan phoned in to suggest Xhaka should be named in their side.

Cundy agreed with the fan but O’Hara feels that the ‘unbelievable’ Hojbjerg has been better this season.

O’Hara said: “He’s [Xhaka] going to cost us eventually though. If I had to pick a team right now, Xhaka? Out of all the midfielders I’m picking. I’m going to go into the game thinking ‘he’s letting me down’.

“He is playing well, but would you say he’s one of the best midfielders in the league right now? [There’s] Kevin de Bruyne, Rodri, Hobjerg.”

Cundy interrupted: “Hojbjerg? Hold on.”

O’Hara then said that Hojbjerg has been ‘unbelievable’ for Tottenham this season.

“What, better than De Bruyne? Rodri? He hasn’t been better than Xhaka.” Cundy said.

But O’Hara said that he feels Xhaka has not been at the same level as the Danish midfielder this season.

Cundy then mentioned Hojbjerg’s first-half display against Wolves this season where he ‘didn’t touch it’.

But the former Spurs man backed Hojbjerg and mentioned that he is the ninth-best rated player on WhoScored this season.

Cundy stuck to his guns and said he would put Brighton duo Leandro Trossard and Pascal Grob in the side over the Spurs man.

Both Hojbjerg and Xhaka have been in excellent form for the two North London sides this season.

The Danish international has registered two goals and as many assists in nine appearances for Antonio Conte’s side.

While the Arsenal man has scored once and assisted three times in eight outings for Mikel Arteta’s men.

The pair will face off against each other next Sunday as Spurs travel to the Emirates for the first North London Derby of the season.
