Hojbjerg's header in Tottenham draw leaves Conte with hands on his head
Antonio Conte was left with his hands on his head and almost falling backwards following Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s header in Tottenham Hotspur’s draw with Liverpool on Saturday – as shown on Tottenham’s latest Conte Cam video on YouTube.
Spurs took home a point from their trip to Anfield at the weekend. Understandably, the Tottenham players were left with mixed feelings about the result.
No team in world football is going to complain about going to Liverpool and avoiding defeat. However, Spurs had the opportunities to win. And they did take the lead through Son Heung-min.
They also had one golden chance right at the end of the game that fell to Hojbjerg. The Dane got onto the end of a cross on the edge of the six-yard box with only Alisson to beat.
But rather than aim his header at goal, Hojbjerg appeared to try and be a little too clever and attempted to send his header back across the six-yard box where Harry Kane was waiting. Unfortunately, the header was cut out by the home side’s defence.
Conte clearly could not believe that Hojbjerg did not have a go at goal himself. The Italian can be seen putting his hands on his head in disbelief on the touchline.
Hojbjerg’s header could be massive moment in Tottenham’s season
Tottenham missed the chance to move above Arsenal in the top-four race. And with the Gunners winning on Sunday, Spurs now find themselves four points behind Mikel Arteta’s side.
There is still a North London derby to come. And that always seemed to be a must-win game for Tottenham.
It is now even more imperative that Spurs win that fixture. But they also need another team to do them a favour before the campaign concludes.
Hojbjerg scoring his header would have made their task a lot easier.
