Hojbjerg can hold his head high despite Arsenal thrashing
Hojbjerg played well against Arsenal.
The Danish midfielder started in the middle of the park against the Gunners and was one of the only Spurs’ players to perform.
The Lilywhites were smashed 3-1 by Arsenal, conceding three goals in just 22 first half minutes.
However, it could have been a lot worse if it wasn’t for Hojbjerg’s efforts.
The Dane had a good day at the office whilst those around him let him down.
Despite being forced to run at his own goal and chase back more often than he’d have been comfortable with, he stood up.
The 26-year-old had 91 touches on the day and was crucial in breaking up Arsenal’s attacks on the odd occasions that they didn’t score.
Hojbjerg’s stats were impressive.
He won 4 of his 7 duels, made 3 tackles, four interceptions and completed 9 recoveries in total (FotMob).
Partnered in a midfield with Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele, the defensive responsibility was always on Hojbjerg.
As usual, Tottenham’s £100,000-per-week star put in a fantastic performance.

However, on this occasion he needed support.
He got that support in the second half when Oliver Skipp came off the bench.
However, it was far too late by that point as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were already trailing 3-0.
It’s not the first time that Hojbjerg has been one of very few performers in a poor Tottenham display.
His nine recoveries was more than Dele and Ndombele’s combined as he was left stranded on his own chasing back too often.
This was not a game that Tottenham fans will want to re-watch, but Hojbjerg’s performance can’t go unnoticed.
This marks three straight defeats for Spurs in the Premier League and their fortunes have to change soon.
Hojbjerg will no doubt be instrumental to that, as he seemingly turns up and performs every week.
