‘His teammates let him down’: Some Liverpool fans praise one player in Newcastle draw

A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to praise Alisson Becker for his performance in Saturday’s Premier League draw at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s side hosted the Magpies knowing victory would’ve seen the Reds move into the top four for the time being at least.

And Liverpool got off to the perfect start as Mohamed Salah fired past Martin Dubravka after just three minutes to open the scoring.

The Reds had numerous chances to extend their lead but the likes of Salah, Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane all failed to make the most of their opportunities.

Newcastle also provided moments of danger but Alisson was in top form, his stops against Sean Longstaff and Joelinton keeping Liverpool ahead at crucial points in the game.

A dramatic last few minutes of the game saw Callum Wilson bundle home, only for VAR to disallow the goal as the ball inadvertently hit his arm before he scored.

But in the end, Liverpool couldn’t maintain their lead and conceded with virtually the last kick of the game, Joe Willock scoring with a deflected effort that Alisson could do little about.
